I'm sure if someone were to ask you if you have idols in your life, you would reply with utter dismay and shock that you certainly do not, thank you very much. I'm 100% certain that there are people in our country that still worship Dagon, Baal, and Asherah, and they will be judged accordingly by Yahweh Himself soon enough, but I'm not one of them, and I doubt you are either. However, you may be surprised to learn that we support those people freely!

Are you familiar with the movie Aquaman that was released December 21, 2018? The movie budget was $160 million, but it's PROFIT to date is $260.5 million!

Aquaman is based upon the false god Dagon, who was an ancient Canaanite god. Many nations worshiped Dagon, including the Philistines. History tells us that Dagon was their national God. The Philistines had at least two, probably many more, temples erected for worship of Dagon. One of the temple's of Dagon is the one that Samson destroyed as his last physical feat of strength. (Judges 16: 23-30) In 1 Samuel 5:1-4, we read that the Philistine's captured the Ark of the Covenant and set it in the temple of Dagon. Imagine their shock when they awoke the next morning to find their "god" face down on the ground and broken to pieces. In 1 Chronicles 10:8-10, we read about Saul's head being hung in a temple of Dagon. Dagon was kind of a big deal to God's enemies.

So, why do we have a hit movie in 2020 based upon an ancient God? Because we have been fed lies. What we think is merely "fun and entertainment" is really false religion being pushed in our direction. Who gobbles this up like candy? WE DO, because we don't know what we are supporting. We haven't educated ourselves in God's Word and the history of the world, so when a new movie comes out, we take it at face value and buy it, thinking that the writers, producers, and actors are just wanting to entertain us. (That's a lie from satan!!) We bring it into our homes, and we watch it with our families. We repeat quotes from the movies, and we smile at the memories we made together; Memories we made as we watched an hour and a half of praise and adoration of a false god. How heartbreaking to know that I have dishonored my Savior by the filth I've brought into my home, where I say I praise the God of the universe. Yes, I am guilty of making entertainment my idol, albeit unintentionally. Aquaman is only one drop in the ocean to all of the movies, songs, t.v. shows, and other entertainment that openly mock and blaspheme against Yahweh, and we as Christians have supported it.

Once we turn off the screen, we can spend time praying and asking the Lord for discernment. We can research the background of the entertainment industry. We can learn more about the people we are to vote on that will make major decisions for us. We can fight against the wrongs of our nation. We can invest time and resources into loving children and ending abortion, starvation, and child trafficking. As God's children, this is our job. Our JOB is to love and protect those that cannot protect themselves. To pray for them. To give generously of the resources we have been blessed with.

It's crucial that we say "no more". Church, we have to be knowledgeable. Don't be sheep led astray by a wolf in sheep's clothing! DIG IN to the Word of God and know. your. enemy.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy... (John 10:10)

Through entertainment, fancy artwork, and glittering costumes, he is stealing our time and attention, killing the family structure, and destroying our sense of the majesty of God. Don't fall prey. Clean out your movie racks and pray for forgiveness as you throw them in the trash can. If you can't let go of your movies, if this is to big of a step for you, pray. Ask God to help you release the stronghold of worldly possessions and thoughts. BOLDLY ask Him to free you of your desires for the things of this world. Ask Him to impart His Spirit so strongly in you that you can not help but praise him with every fiber of your being, with every breath He blesses you with.

We can do this together, brothers and sisters. We can.

May we glorify Christ our Risen Savior in ALL that we do.
