I think we can all agree that March 2020 was a bit unusual. I don't know about you, but I didn't see Covid-19 heading our way. I didn't know that panic, anxiety, and fear were lurking around the corner. I never imagined we would see a day, at least in my lifetime, in which churches could not meet corporately. Yes, March 2020 brought winds of change that we couldn't have foreseen.

Isn't is reassuring though that we have a Father that knew?

He knew all about Covid-19 and the havoc it would wreak all over the planet. He knew that there would be long days for medical personnel and shortened lives for some victims of the sudden condition. He knew all along that there would be chaos in the grocery stores and that people would, of all things, hoard toilet paper. He also knew even before time existed that in these trying days, we would be prohibited from worshiping together under the same roof.

And He made provision for us....

God gave us the gift of time to gather what we needed from the stores. He has given us technology to communicate outside of the building. He provided a website in January that we began using in March so that we could hear the message from home when we weren't allowed to be at church. Do you see what the Lord has done for our church? For you? He is worthy of all praise!

  • Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matthew 6:26

Matthew 6:26 is an often repeated verse, but do we know this in our hearts? Can we say that we believe it when times are hard? If you struggle with trusting God when things look dim, reflect on recent days. God has proven Himself time and time again, and you've nothing to fear!

  • Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Luke 12:7

In Bible times, two sparrows could be purchased for the equivalent of one penny in today's US currency. How insignificant the sparrows were to those that bartered them! But friends, God saw each sparrow, and He sees each of us and counts us as worthy!

  • Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

Don't be afraid to approach God boldly and petition Him for your needs with a spirit of Thanksgiving for all He's already done for you. Speak His Word back to Him. Claim Victory in JESUS' name. Then rise from your knees and face the day with a smile, knowing that whatever happens, God is in control.

Please pray with me....

Abba,

How worthy is your name, Father. How beautiful to whisper my praise to the King of all Kings. I come to you in thanksgiving for all you've done from the beginning of time to lead me to this moment on my knees with you. Thank you, that through the sacrifice of Jesus for all of humanity and according to your written word in Hebrews 4:11-16, I can come before your throne boldly and ask forgiveness where I've been wrong and petition you for mercy and help to get through a world I am an alien in, Lord.

Father, I come to you now with an unsettled heart. You tell me in your Word, that I am not to worry, fear, or be anxious, but Lord, I am. The uncertainty that Covid-19 has brought into my life is scary. People are losing their jobs and income. They don't know how they'll pay their rent or mortgage. They don't know how they are going to feed their family. Some of them don't know you. Like a waterfall, or sometimes like a tidal wave, these things affect us all. Although we are secure for today, there is no promise that tomorrow we will not be in need.

My prayer is this, Lord. Make me aware of the hurting, and give me a heart to meet their needs through you. Help me to be your hands and feet, because when my eyes are focused on you, and doing your work, I will never go wrong. Give me the strength to keep going when my energy is depleted. Give me the needed resources to do your work, and give me the patience to do it with an attitude that proclaims Jesus without a need to open my mouth.

Help me, Abba, to always be focused on you. Always you, and everything else will be okay.

I love you.

In Jesus' precious and holy name, Amen.
